Human ribosomal protein S3 KH domain (PDB code 1wh9) Show:Asymmetric Unit Biological Assembly Drag the structure with the mouse to rotate   Export Animated Image Function Ribosomal protein S3 (RPS3) is one of the 21 proteins which belong to the 30S of the bacterial ribosome or the 30 proteins which belong to the 40S small subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. The eukaryote 40S small subunit contains 30 proteins. It is known to be involved in the binding of initiator tRNA fMet[1]. Relevance RPS3 is secreted in cancer cells thus it is an indicator of malignant tumors[2]. RPS3 linked to a leader peptide could be potential therapeutic agent against Alzheimer disease[3].
