MAR is Mg-dependent. MAR can racemize other alpha-hydroxy carbonyl compounds. MAR is involved in aromatic acids catabolism. Structural highlights The biological assembly of mandelate racemase from Pseudomonas putida is homooctamer. The active site of MAR binds the reaction intermediate.
