It is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Fluoxetine delays the reuptake of serotonin, resulting in serotonin persisting longer when it is released. See also [1] and Serotonin Transporter.
