Cui is an immunity protein that is produced by ''E. coli'' alongside [[Colicin U]] to protect itself from the pore-forming cytotoxic activity of the [[Colicin]]. Once the complex has been released from the producing cell and binds to an outer membrane receptor on the target cell, the immunity protein is released.
