Cyi is the [[Colicin Immunity Protein]] produced by ''E. coli'' alongside [[Colicin Y]] to protect itself from the pore-forming cytotoxic domain of the [[Colicin]], by inserting itself into the cell membrane and preventing the colicin from doing the same. This prevents membrane depolarisation by the colicin, so the cell is not killed.
