These dinitriles are converted to the corresponding monoacid mononitriles, showing the enzyme is regioselective. Cannot hydrolyze compounds with a nitrile group bound to an aromatic ring or amino acid. Its biological role is unknown.<ref>PMID:16495079</ref>
