It is broadly expressed in malignant tumors. Disease CD55 mutations are related to early-onset protein-losing enteropathy and thrombosis. Relevance CD55 is involved in promotion of tumorigenesis, decrease of complement mediated tumor cell lysis, evasion of apoptosis, cell motility and metastasis. CD55 is included in diagnostic or therapeutic studies.
