It is a homolog of chymotrypsin and it works by cleveing at the paptide bond after residues with long, positively charged side chains. An aspartate residue which attracts and stabilizes a positively charged arginine or lysine residue in the substrate. The disease of cystic fibrosis is the result of deficiency in transport of trypsin and other digestive enzymes from the pancreas. | ||
