Cellulose synthase has two main jobs. The first of these two being the synthesis or creation of the polysaccharide cellulose <ref> doi: 10.1093/jxb/erab414 </ref> and the second job of cellulose synthase is to create the crystalline microfibril structure <ref> doi: 10.1098/rsta.2017.0048 </ref>. Cellulose is one of the main components in the cell wall and is responsible for protecting the cell from unwarranted pathogens that might try and harm the cell <ref> doi: 10.3389/fpls.2011.00005 </ref>. The overall shape and form of the cell, as well as the containment of water within the cell.

Cellulose synthase uses an activated form of glucose, with the sugar attached to a <scene name='91/919049/Cellulose_and_udp/3'>UDP (orange)</scene> nucleotide, to build cellulose. Cellulose is also important in strengthening cell walls and preventing breakage due to physical forces. This Sandbox is Reserved from August 30, 2022 through May 31, 2023 for use in the course Biochemistry I taught by Kimberly Lane at the Radford University, Radford, VA, USA. This reservation includes Sandbox Reserved 1730 through Sandbox Reserved 1749.
To get started:
  • Click the edit this page tab at the top. Click on Show preview and then Save the page after each step, then edit it again.
  • show the Scene authoring tools, create a molecular scene, and save it. Copy the green link into the page.
  • Add a description of your scene. Use the buttons above the wikitext box for bold, italics, links, headlines, etc.
