FunctionHigh affinity nerve growth factor receptor (TrkA) is a tyrosine kinase receptor. Trk stands for Topomyosin-Related Kinase. TrkA ligand - nerve growth factor activates the receptor by stabilizing homodimer formation which initiates transautophosphorylation[1]. See also Neurotrophin.
