Function
CD55 or decay-accelerating factor (DAF) serves as an inhibitor of the complement system. It is broadly expressed in malignant tumors[1].
Disease
CD55 mutations are related to early-onset protein-losing enteropathy and thrombosis[2].
Relevance
CD55 is involved in promotion of tumorigenesis, decrease of complement mediated tumor cell lysis, evasion of apoptosis, cell motility and metastasis. CD55 is included in diagnostic or therapeutic studies.
