COXPD3 symptoms include severe metabolic acidosis with encephalomyopathy or with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Patients show a severe defect in mitochondrial translation leading to a failure to assemble adequate amounts of three of the oxidative phosphorylation complexes.
