Deoxyhemoglobin
The major oxygen-binding molecule in man, responsible for binding oxygen in the lung and transporting it to the tissues by means of circulation. Hemoglobin is an iron Fe chelate tightly binding one Fe where it carries a 2+ charge(ferrous ion). If no oxygen molecule is bound it is called deoxyheemoglobin. Deoxyhemoglobin is a tetramer of alpha and beta strands. The Overall Structure is shown here. Deoxyhemoglobin contanis a Heme group, as well as a hydrophobic group(highlighted in yellow)
