Thiol peroxidase (TPX) is part of an oxidative stress defense system that uses thioredoxin and thioredoxin reductase to reduce alkyl hydroperoxides. TPX is an antioxidant which reduces peroxides and inhibits hydrogen peroxide response. TPX is also implicated in activation of transcription factors and signaling[1]. See also Bacterioferritin comigratory protein.
