Function
STC2_RHIME Monooxygenase involved in the catabolism of stachydrine (L-proline betaine), a source of carbon and nitrogen (PubMed:10689197, PubMed:22224443). Part of a Rieske-type oxygenase system that catalyzes the demethylation of stachydrine to produce N-methyl-L-proline (monomethylproline) (PubMed:22224443). Stc2 is the catalytic subunit (PubMed:22224443).[1] [2]
