Structural highlights
FunctionKMO_PSEFL Catalyzes the hydroxylation of L-kynurenine (L-Kyn) to form 3-hydroxy-L-kynurenine (L-3OHKyn). Probably required for the synthesis of quinolinic acid and the siderophore quinolobactin. Publication Abstract from PubMedA series of potent, competitive and highly selective kynurenine monooxygenase inhibitors have been discovered via a substrate-based approach for the treatment of acute pancreatitis. The lead compound demonstrated good cellular potency and clear pharmacodynamic activity in vivo.
