Structural highlights
FunctionPublication Abstract from PubMedCahuitamycins are biofilm inhibitors biosynthesized by a convergent NRPS pathway. Previous genetic analysis indicated that a discrete enzyme, CahJ, serves as a gatekeeper for cahuitamycin structural diversification. Herein, the CahJ protein was probed structurally, functionally and through mutasynthesis. This analysis enabled production of a new cahuitamycin congener through targeted precursor incorporation.
