Function
TACA1_SALT1 Antitoxin component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system (PubMed:27264868, PubMed:34556858). Counteracts the toxic effect of cognate toxin TacT1 (T8), but not TacT2 or TacT3 (PubMed:27264868, PubMed:34556858). Plays a role in persister cell formation (PubMed:24408438).[1] [2] [3] The TacA1-TacT1 complex binds (and probably represses) its own promoter DNA but not that of tacA3-tacT3, it does not repress the tacA3-tacT3 promoter.[4]
