FunctionPG040_VACCW Negatively regulates superinfection and syncytium formation in infected host cells. Acts in concert with OPG185/A56 protein at the host cell membrane by interacting with and inhibiting the mature virion entry/fusion complex (EFC). This mechanism ensures that new virions released from the cell cannot enter already infected cells.[1] References
