FunctionVKT2I_RADCR Serine protease inhibitor that also shows protective effect in a cytotoxicity model (PubMed:32144281). It binds to all proteases tested (trypsin (Ki=52 nM), alpha-chymotrypsin, cathepsin G, kallikrein, and human neutrophil elastase) (PubMed:32144281). It significantly increases neuroblastoma cell viability in an in vitro neurotoxicity model, being a consequence of an effective decrease of reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in the cells (PubMed:32144281, PubMed:35563513). It also seems to protect cells by inhibiting ATP-induced purinoceptor (P2RX7) activation (PubMed:35563513).[1] [2] References
