FunctionTXTE_STRSW Cytochrome P450 involved in the biosynthesis of thaxtomins, a family of phytotoxins (PubMed:22941045). Catalyzes direct regiospecific 4-nitration of L-tryptophan, the first committed step in thaxtomin A biosynthesis, using NO and O(2) as cosubstrates (PubMed:22941045, PubMed:25182183). It can use spinach ferredoxin (Fd) and spinach ferredoxin reductase (Fr) as artificial electron donors (PubMed:22941045, PubMed:25182183). Cannot use D-tryptophan (PubMed:22941045). In vitro, it can nitrate unnatural substrates that are structurally similar to L-tryptophan with decorated indole side chains and modified amino acid moieties (PubMed:25182183).[1] [2] References
