Structural highlights
FunctionCRT1_OCTBM Chemotactile receptors that mediate contact-dependent chemosensation in cephalopods, allowing them to respond to stimuli in the marine environment (PubMed:33125889, PubMed:37045917, PubMed:37045920, PubMed:40532695). Enriched in the suction cups on the arms, they elicit robust autonomous movement and modify predatory and maternal behavior upon activation (PubMed:37045920, PubMed:40532695). Permeable to cations including sodium, potassium and calcium ions (PubMed:33125889, PubMed:37045920, PubMed:40532695). Binds a wide range of hydrophobic agonists, but the extent of receptor activation is modulated by the electronegativity of the ligands (PubMed:37045920, PubMed:40532695).[1] [2] [3] [4] References
