Cephalosporin acylase (CSA) catalyzes the conversion of cephalosporin C (CPC) to 7-amino-cephalosporanic acid (7-ACA).[1] RelevanceCSA is used commercially for production of semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotics. Structural highlightsCSA contains 2 non-identical subunits. The active site pocket (PDB entry 1jw0)[2] of CSA is similar to that of penicillin acylase. Water molecules are shoen as red spheres.
