Function
Ribosomal protein S13 (RPS13) is one of the 21 proteins which belong to the 30S small subunit of the bacterial ribosome or the 30 proteins which belong to the 40S small subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. It is involved in binding to fMet-tRNA and hence to the translation initiation step[1].
Relevance
RPS13 promotes growth and cell cycle progression in gastric cancer cells through inhibiting p27 expression[2]. RPS13 promotes multi-drug resistance in gastric cancer cells by suppressing drug-induced apoptosis[3].
