FunctionSuccinate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase or α-ketoglutaric semialdehyde dehydrogenase or succinyl-CoA reductase (SSD) catalyzes the conversion of succinate semialdehyde, NAD+ and water to succinate, NADH and H+. SSD participates in glutamate and butyrate metabolism[1]. See also Aldehyde dehydrogenase.
