Function

Sigma factor (SF) is needed for the initiation of RNA synthesis. RNA polymerase (RNAP) contains one SF subunit. SF has four conserved regions between its N- terminal and its C-terminal. Specialized SF bind the promoters of genes appropriate to the environmental conditions.
