NCL contains intrinsic DNA and RNA helicase, nucleic-acid-dependent ATPase and self-cleaving activities. NCL binds RNA through its RNA recognition motifs (RBD). It regulates various aspects of DNA and RNA metabolism. Relevance NCL expression is enhanced on the surface of many different types of cancer cells and hence is the target of anti-cancer therapies. NCL is a specific marker of angiogenic endothelial cells in tumor vessels.
