Alpha crystallin has chaperone-like properties like the ability to prevent precipitation of denatured proteins. See Alpha crystallin. Gamma crystallin is found mainly in the nuclear region of the lens. Disease Mutations in α-A-crystallin and α-B-crystallin can cause myopathy.
