Crystal Structure Analysis of Caffeic acid/5-hydroxyferulic acid 3/5-O-methyltransferase Ferulic Acid Complex

Structural highlights

1kyz is a 3 chain structure with sequence from Medicago sativa. Full crystallographic information is available from OCA. For a guided tour on the structure components use FirstGlance.
Method:X-ray diffraction, Resolution 2.2Å
Ligands:FER, SAH
Resources:FirstGlance, OCA, PDBe, RCSB, PDBsum, ProSAT

Function

COMT1_MEDSA Catalyzes the conversion of caffeic acid to ferulic acid and of 5-hydroxyferulic acid to sinapic acid. The resulting products may subsequently be converted to the corresponding alcohols that are incorporated into lignins.
