VIR17_SALTY Is critically involved in promoting the replication of S.typhimurium cells inside host macrophages, suggesting a role in the establishment of bacterial colonization within macrophages. May be involved in the biosynthesis and modification of the peptidoglycan layer of the cell wall.[1]
