Function
Casein kinase (CK) is a protein kinase which functions as regulator of signal transduction.
- CK1 is a serine/threonine kinase with several members: α, β1, γ1, γ2, γ3, δ and ε.[1]
- CK2 functions in cell cycle control, DNA repair and circadian rhythm regulation.[2]
Structural highlights
CK2 is a tetramer which contains α and α' subunits (CK2A1 and CK2A2) which are the catalytic ones and two β subunits which are the regulatory ones. . [3] Water molecules are shown as red spheres.
