PtGPX5 is classified as a GPx-5, which is the family of glutathione peroxidases that does not contain selenocysteine. Here, PtGPX5 (green) is aligned with human GPx-5 (pink). This cartoon representation was made in PyMOL. The structures align well, except for the α1-helix and the flexible loop (both part of the active site). The human GPx-5 also has an oligomerization loop seen in other GPxs, but not in PtGPX5.
