We apologize for Proteopedia being slow to respond. For the past two years, a new implementation of Proteopedia has been being built. Soon, it will replace this 18-year old system. All existing content will be moved to the new system at a date that will be announced here.

I am to be working on the pages for antibacterial Colicins and Tol proteins for my final year project as an undergraduate student at the University of York, working for Professor Colin Kleanthous. Colicins kill E. coli cells by binding to cell surface receptors and translocating cytotoxic domains into the periplasm or cytoplasm. Tol proteins, which are located in the Gram-negative inner membrane, periplasm and outer membrane, are required for outer membrane integrity and bacterial virulence and are parasitized by colicins and filamentous bacteriophages for cell entry
