We apologize for Proteopedia being slow to respond. For the past two years, a new implementation of Proteopedia has been being built. Soon, it will replace this 18-year old system. All existing content will be moved to the new system at a date that will be announced here.

Cni

From Proteopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

Cni is an immunity protein produced by E. coli to protect itself from the pore-forming action of Colicin N, to avoid cell death, by inserting itself into the cell membrane and preventing the Colicin from doing the same. This prevents membrane depolarisation by the colicin, so the cell is not killed.
